Bio

I grew up in the theater; my father was a professor of theater; my mother trained at the Goodman theater. Therefore, they instilled in me a love of the beauty of the English language in its educated form (and by extenstion all languages spoken and written for the educated eye and ear). I hold a BA in theater (Latin honors) from Brandeis University and an MFA in acting from the University of Georgia. I also attended the National Theater Institute at the O'Neill Center. I'm an award winning author and a playwright and member of the Dramatists' Guild. I am one of the few people to pass the Turing Test: I was judged to be a computer program on Shakespeare at the First Loebner Prize Competition of The Turing Test--a truly science-fictional experience. The competition was filmed as part of a PBS Scientific Frontiers episode and aired internationally. In addition to living sf, I have experience with the thriller genre. I was invited to Russia to deliver my paper, "The Application of Vector Theory to Literature and Drama" at the international conference "Languages of Science, Languages of Art" in Suzdal where I was privelged to meet some of Russia's top scientists, the man who had been in charge of Sputnik and the man in charge of Skylab. My husband chatted math and science with them. My husband and I were smuggled out of Suzdal by the Ministry of Culture before the conference was over. The Ministry of Culture, which had invited me, and the Ministry of Defense were arguing about me, my persoanlly assigned, friendly KGB agent told me. The Ministry of Culture representative asked the KGB agent sent by the Ministry of Defense to go buy cigerattes, and as soon as he was out of sight we were put in a van headed for Moscow with the head of Skylab and his family, some other people (men), as well as an enormous rug coiled on the floor in the aisle of the van. A few days later my husband and I were chased by the KGB through the streets of Moscow. We sneaked into an underground Mall, a luxurious place, and surrounded by soldiers with machine guns above us as we went down an escaloter. The man who had been following us appeared out of the shadows on the floor below us as we descended. We decided to approach him to show innocence and trust. He spoke into his walkie-talkie and disapeared into the shadows. The soldiers withdrew. When we arrived home, we found our names were not on the flight manefest. Our names had been replaced with Russian ones.

Reviews are critical for an author so that readers can find books they want to read. I really thank you for taking the time to write a review of any of my books that you have read.
